ecosia-2

Ecosia is a search engine like Google. But it really isn’t. Because it does plants trees because of your web search; it donates 80% of its income, earned by ads, to a tree planting program in Brazil. By searching with Ecosia you can help the environment for free. Give it a try!

My First iHerb Haul

As there is no place in Switzerland to get the Earthpaste (probably the most natural toothpaste on the market), I did a bit of research and found www.iHerb.com.

It is an American website that ships natural products internationally at the reasonable price of 4$ per order.

So I bought the following items:

Can Vegetables and Fruit Not Be Healthy?

It is wonderful to eat veggies and fruit. They contain a lot of vitamins and important trace elements out body needs to stay intact. But if we think about the way we grow those… There’s a lot of pesticides involved. We need them to repell bugs ect.

Washing My Hair Without Shampoo for The Second Time and A DIY Dry Shampoo

Update on my new no poo-routine:

I washed my hair in the evening (you can read here how I do it).

I did so because I thought I could get it dry(ish) and then follow up with dry shampoo (aka cornstark) that I don’t necessarily have to walk around like a greasy mess (Severus Snape greets you 😉 ).

Washing My Hair Without Shampoo for The First Time

I have had dandruff since I remember washing my hair.

The problem has increased in the last two months or so. I have switched to Lush’s “Fair trade honey shampoo” in the impression that it was a clean choice. It claims to be “preservative free” and therefor, I thought it to be wonderful. I didn’t look close, though. It contains a bunch of  really dirty ingredients: Sodium Laureth Sulfate (Sulfates) and Cocamide DEA. Those have both proven to be carcinogenes.

Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo Review 004

I have wondered why I recently struggled with far more dandruff than before. Is it the radiators that really dry out your roots? Or is my dandruff actually a rash, the consequence of the harsh ingredients of my shampoo? Continue reading

Natural and Cheap Spot Treatment

Only use products on your skin you could also eat.

As it is my aim to use natural products, I started to use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) as a spot treatment. I read a lot of good stuff about ACV. Mixed with water, it can also be used as a post-shampoo rinse to get rid of dandruff.

The spot treatment is effective. Apple cider vinegar contains a lot of enzymes, minerals, nutrients and beneficial bacteria. Continue reading

The Truth About Your Beauty Products

My awareness for harsh ingredients all started with a lecture of the book “No more dirty looks” by Siobhan O’Connor and Alexandra Spunt. It was one of the most life-changing books I’ve read so far.

It was shocking to read what hazardous chemicals we let our bodies penetrate daily just by using our beloved cosmetics. Continue reading
